This car is lying upside down amongst the spinifex and it looks like it’s been there for quite a while. I like the fact that no one seems to have come along to remove it after all these years. I took this shot after a cyclone had been through Karratha. There isn’t normally green spinifex as it’s almost always too dry which makes it yellow.
After work one day I headed down to Hearsons Cove. It’s off the main Burrup Peninsula road and has quite a rocky beach with big tidal movements. Luckily the tide was in at this sunset but the colour of the sky wasn’t that interesting. As a result I thought this image looked better as a black and white.
I was taking some shots of an old car (still to come) at sunset near the hills in Karratha and I noticed behind me was a big thunderstorm brewing. It was like a giant orange ball of pulsing light because the lighting was huge but wasn’t actually getting out of the cloud. It was pretty awesome to watch. After dark it was even cooler but was unfortunately a lot harder to shoot.
